Language Exploration in Prophecys

An example of prophecys is when the play states that “No man of woman born can slay macbeth” but macduff’s case that rule didnt apply to him because he was born by a ceisarian section meaning he was cut out of the womb but wasnt naturally born by the mother.

Also the play States that he will be “Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor , King hereafter” which can confuse him as he doesnt know how it will happen. The order of which the Prophecys are said is chronological because he became thane of glamis, then cawdor and then king. This prophecy is a little more specific so if one happens he will know it is true.

  1. Marcel,

You have shown some understanding of dramatic irony here but it is under-developed. Think back to our discussion about Hecate and the witches – isn’t something said about how the witches have played with Macbeth’s fate in riddles? How might that be incorrporated here?
